What tool/method do ya'll use if you want to siphon up some oil for sampling purposes if you're not changing the oil ? Or let's say I need to remove 16 oz of of oil to add LC.....?

I used to do a *poor mans PS fluid swap* with every oil change but removing it with a turkey baster and then adding as much as I took out. I figuered if I employed this method, it would be as *life-long* as possible. Can't really do that with the oil however.

Do a search here. I've seen it before. A company in Tennesse makes a vampire pump and Amsoil also sells a similar product.

Search on VAMPIRE and you will get info.

Blackstone has a great pump for 25$.

I use a brake bleeder kit. It consists of a vacuum gun and a vacuum jar with "in" and "out" ports on the lid.

The sample bottle fits perfectly in the vacuum jar. Screw on the lid, attach a 1/8" hose to the "in" port and shove that down the dipstick tube. The "out" port gets attached to the vacuum gun with another hose.

Then just pump the gun to achieve about 10in of vacuum(mine has a gauge) and wait for the sample bottle to fill. It works great and there's no mess to clean up. Just remove the sample bottle and cap it and throw out the 1/8" hose that drew the sample from the dipstick tube.

I thought the thing with drain plugs is that when sampling, you don't want to get whatever the oil that first comes out ?

Wouldn't this just negate that purpose or if I did this on when the oil is HOT, and the -stuff- is suspended in the oil, it should not matter .
