Please recommend a wireless backup camera for my 2002 Chevy Express 1500 custom van. Looking for:
1. Decent quality video
2. Comes on quickly
3. Reliable

Does your current head unit support a BUC?

Or do you want an external monitor?

While not the cheapest, lots of aftermarket Stereo units offer built in BUC's.

Why not just run a permanently on wireless or wired camera? There are tons of kits on Amazon for under $100 since LCD screen are dirt cheap nowadays.

You would just mount the camera, run the wiring into the cab/dash and then mount and power the screen. You could even get a unit that records to a SD card so you can capture proof if anyone ever rear ends you.

I'd install one of these along with the add-on backup camera. It shouldn't be too much of an ordeal to run a few wires between the dash and rear doors on a cargo van, but you will need to tap into the reverse light circuit or the NSS to get the reverse signal for the headunit to sense when the truck is in R:

just go wired. read the wireless reviews....

my camera was $16 and the screen was $15. a long coax for the video, some zip wire for power and 2 hours of my time. I already had the wire so it was seriously $31 for me and has been reliable enough.
