I need to rebuild the clutch master cylinder on the Rx7, so I am looking at rebuild kits online. I've never rebuilt one. But, I see there are two options, a "Major" kit and a regular kit. The "Major" kit comes with a new piston and the regular only with seals. Which one do I need?

It depends on the condition of the original piston and bore.
If the original has no serious wear or scoring (there is a min spec) you don't need a new one.

This is one of these deals that you cant predict 100% what your going to need until its apart.
If the price is not to much different you may just want to get the kit with piston to be on the safe side.

Normally if it's not the seal that is worn, then it's the cyl bore that is worn or pitted.
Often it's easier to just replace the whole unit with a new or Re-con (depending on cost and availability)
In an extreme case, you may want to get the existing cyl sleeved. (stainless steel is often used) this costs about $75

Well, the fluid was getting dark very quickly even after flushing it a few times. This led me to believe that the rubber seals were worn. I'll order a kit with a new piston and hopefully the whole unit won't need to be replaced.
