Is a Ford CIII power steering pump from my 2001 Ranger meant to be rebuilt? Ford doesn't sell a rebuild kit or any seals separately. However, I have found an aftermarket rebuild kit that is supposedly for it. It's Duralast p/n 8634. However, I'm having trouble removing the pump cover. The retaining ring doesn't have ears to grab to remove it. I found a company that makes flat retaining rings with no ears - Smalley. They recommend using a screwdriver to pry the ring free. That doesn't sound right as this ring is round & pretty recessed.
