Rear diff fluid question for Explorer

I want to change the rear diff fluid in my 2002 Explorer. It requires 75w-140 fluid and it has a limited slip diff. Redline doesn't seem to carry that weight with the limited slip additive in it. Redline does have 80w-140 though. Is that a viable replacement?

Yes, especially since you live in Florida. You can also by the LS additive separately.

I would run a good quality 75w90 synthetic and not worry about it unless you submerge the axle under water.

You will lose quite a bit of fuel economy by going with the 80w140 or 75w140 over a 75w90 weight.

Redline, Amsoil Series 2000 or any quality synthetic would be your best bet.

Thanks guys. I posted another question about using the 75w-90 Redline instead of the Ford recommended 75w-140, and it appeared the consensus was to go with the factory spec oil. I know the rear diff runs Ford synthetic fluid already. I think I will call Redline and ask them.
