What would you do to an SUV to harden it for real dual purpose use and which one would you start with.
A friend has a V8 4Runner, lifted 3", some bigger gas shocks, xtra skid plates, brush bumpers, a snorkle system with a great big air cleaner, a larger 12 quart oil pan with baffels and a scraper. He has added air lockers front and rear with some big nobby tires. He started with a capable vehicle and has added to it without a lot of fuss. He has added a few small things like a cooler in the P/S line and a large spin on transmission fluid filter with a larger trans pan and the engine has a bypass filter, a Frantz and a Frantz adapted to the fuel system along with an extra water seperator and an extra inline fuel pump that can be switched on when needed. The cooling system has a filter in parallel with the heater core. His only problem is the brush scratches and dings from really going off road, not just posing.
I just wonder what you would do given a fresh start.
