Readyboost Trick For Xp

Thanks for this tip. My son just reported back that this worked. He's running XP with only 256 ram, so every bit helps.
 
I don't see how setting a swapfile on a USB Flash Drive would be faster than having a static swapfile on a hard drive.
 
Depends on the amount of ram you have and other factors.

If you have an extra USP Flash Drive laying around give it a try and post your results.
 
I still don't buy it. A hard drive's transfer rate is going to blow away a USB flash drive.

PLUS...Readyboost caches programs/files onto the flash drive within Vista in conjunction with Superfetch. XP does NOT have this option and placing your swap file on a USB Flash Drive will NOT cause your PC to cache your frequently used programs/files within XP.

Calling it Readyboost for XP is just plain wrong.
 
I don't see how this will help either. All theya re doing is adding a pagefile to a slower flash drive.
