Hi! I have a GR86, and one of my options is the Ravenol DXG. It was reformulated a while ago, on this forum we have a review of the 2019 virgin oil, and also we have a review on a spanish guy's YouTube channel, called La Taberna, that you have already used as a reference with other oils (his videos are great, I'm spanish and I use them as reference). Some months ago, another spanish guy uploaded a review of the new Ravenol DXG, in my opinion, his comments cannot be used as a reference, the video is only useful to see the analysis of the virgin oil. The three labs are different, so the changes will not be 100% accurate.

Ashes are 0,8% for 2024 and 2021, Sulfur is 0,2% for both too. It appears that they have reduced all additives, but have added Wolfram.
The safety data sheet states 35-60% of CAS 68037-01-4 (PAO). Maybe it has some Ester? 5%?:

What you guys think? I was using this oil in my Toyota GR86, now I changed to Amsoil Signature Series 5w30, and, although I like it more personally and the base is "better", I heard the engine sound smoother with the Ravenol (maybe thanks to the Wolframium?).

Thanks for sharing. I frequently follow those two channels for VOA's. Looks like a small dose of ester per FTIR.

I would stay with the Amsoil SS. Better oil IMO. One of the absolute best on the market.

yeah, it looks like it will have some Ester, but not much. Yes, I like the Amsoil, before the GR, I had a GT86 and I always used Amsoil, but I dont know what to do now, because I heard the engine smoother at idle with the Ravenol (less tractor sound of the Subaru boxer, you know haha). I sent the used Ravenol for an analysis, to see how the viscosity held up, I will decide based on that

As tempting as it may be to change due to sound, I'd wait to see a UOA. Sound is not often an indicator of an oil's performance. IMO>

If engine sound increases, I won't buy that oil brand again. I'm hearing the difference more - now that I switched to the boutiques for our two Hyunkia vehicles. So because I keep short OCIs, I'm likely reverting back to shopping oils at Walmart. The boutiques aren't sounding as quiet as I'd hoped for. If an oil concerns me during any particular OCI, it plays with my head and I'm mentally forced to switch to something else.
