My car is 1997 T-bird with the 4.6L sohc v-8.
I read almost everything on the net related to "pinging" and "rattling", and it seems that the "rattling" noise I hear on acceleration(especially at the highest rpm's just after th2 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts) really IS pinging!!(all the t-bird 4.6L experts think so) (this rattling stops when I back off the gas)
...and I'm using 93 octane, had plugs/wires changed a few weeks ago...and the fuel system cleaned.. so what can still cause the pinging?
about 9 months ago, I heard the same "rattle" up to about 2500 rpms/45 mph, and i started using 93 oct. gas., and it stopped the rattling(pinging), but why is it pinging again, on 93 oct, and with new plugs/wires?? it also has less power.
Anybody has an idea for a solution? Thanks in advance.
