Rat in my Engine Bay!

Well this morning confirmed it - there is a fist-sized fat rat that lives in my engine bay overnight. The little #@$%! makes a run for it when I start the engine up and as I put it in drive and back out of the drive way. Wish he'd go under the tyres just once! In any case, his days are VERY numbered. I am going to get under the car to see if he's damaged anything by chewing on it. MAN! Haven't even had the car for two weeks!

we have one of those in at my work. 06 Town Car that a rat got into. ite been there for a few months. the tech will start fixing it, then find more chewed wires.

A squirrel used to live in the air cleaner box on my mom's 1995 Lumina. Build a nest up in there, spent the cold winter nights hiding out in there next to the warm engine after she'd get home from work. Only found out about it because after a while the nest became pretty extensive and was blocking airflow causing sluggish performance on the highway.

I had mice doing the same thing. They nested my airbox and #@$%!'d and pooped on everything. I put peanut butter on mouse traps and put them in my engine bay every night. Every couple days, I'd find a dead mouse. Eventually it solved the problem.

I put special pink colored food blocks in my engine bay to keep the mice fed for the rest of their lives.

Rats and mice love to chew on wiring, especially the soft, rubbery stuff. Look for tiny "saw marks" on stuff like the sparkplug boots and the thingie that covers the alternator wire. Pray it isn't chewing on the engine harness or fuel lines.

Did you guys ever see the pics of the Boa that got into a RSX's engine bay. It didn't end up pretty for the snake or the engine, I'd say that boefdem lost.

After you get home set some rat poison under the hood. Put it in a place that cats or dogs can't get to it. Then remove it when you leave in the morning. This will take care of you rodent problem.

Mice got into my mom's Oldsmobile Intrigue and for about 6 months she was getting odd electrical things happening like stalling, warning lights going on and off randomly, finally the car wouldn't run, towed to dealership found mice nest in a place not visible without disassembly, they had been chewing on wires, cost $400 to repair.

We just got my mom's Malibu back from the shop today, and they said they found rodents in the air intake tubes. They also had to replace the lifters and intake manifold gasket (not due to the rodents, though). Got out for $200 because of the goodwill offering. Not too shabby, but now the brakes are acting up since we've had it in there.

Depending on where you live, stand there with a scattergun while someone else fires up the car, and let the sucker have it.

had mice eat the map hose on my olds wagon.made a nest in the rear of the wheelwell and firewall.twice.
sprayed some nasty undercoating there and the mice did not return.destructive critters.
