Hi all,

I was checking my son’s cars this morning and he was checking oil. I noticed something sticking out of engine guard under car. It was some foam. I can’t see anything looking in engine bay with flashlight. Maybe something he picked up driving?

It looks like it's a rear engine seal or gasket for a corner or back of the engine. The bottom looks like it sits in a track and was glued into something.

Thanks all. I’ll take a good look around when I get a chance. Initial look I couldn’t see where it would go. I agree it looks like the foam I would use on an AC install in a Window unit. Radiator seems plausible.

If radiator such things are often not included or used with aftermarket replacements down the road, so I wouldn't worry.

Honestly, as long as you don't have body parts caught in your grille you're doing well ;)

True you're supposed to get those elsewhere, but hardly anybody does.

It's to prevent the air from bypassing the radiators

I just pulled off a long string of that exact same stuff from my 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.4 three weeks ago.
I thought my underside picked it up from the road somewhere. I removed the small panel underneath to the oil filter and drain plug a few years ago and thought that's where the foam got caught-up into.

Have you noticed any issue from the foam missing?
