As my wife served as a nurse in the U.S. Navy, we have been insured by USAA for 38 years while living in PA, VA, NC and FL. However, on our recent move from NC back to PA, I decided to pull the plug on USAA and switch to Amica Insurance. Yes, there was an annual savings of about $425 with Amica for combined automobile, renters and umbrella insurance, but I did this because in my experience the level and quality of policy service and claim service we have received from USAA has declined steadily over the years. I attribute this to the company's expansion in the marketplace (too many TV ads to increase membership). I will miss the annual distribution check that USAA issues to its members, but I've already experienced improved service and a superior website with Amica.
