BLUF- at a Insider Track of $64.99- well worth having

Looking to see if a 2012 MB S550 might have a coolant leak. Took out my never used Mityvac MV4560 and quickly discovered none of the four adapters work on this S550.

Went to Amazon, found an Astro Tools 78585 for $225, three days for delivery. Thought to try Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight has a few test kits. This Pittsburgh kit is $95 USD. Through April Insider Trac price of $65 USD. HF states this kit is comparable to the Astro Tools 78585

Came home and tried the adapters, none fit. Taking a closer look, this Pittsburgh kit has a universal adapter, and it did fit.

The Mityvac have to give a thumbs down when directly compared to the Pittsburgh.

If you have a current or future need for a Radiator Pressure Test Kit, and you are a Insider Track member, might be a good opportunity to get it.

It is a nice kit and you can get additional adapters. I have that set. Works the same as a crazy marked up snap on!

I got one of the "master" sets of adapters and it's really nice to have the coverage. I think it was Ares.

I adapted my Astro air regulator to the quick connects and that's the bomb-diggity -- no more pumping like a fool on larger leaks and then pausing for two seconds hoping to hear the leak.

All rambling aside, the kit GON shows is still useful for the majority of leaks you'll encounter!

That is what I hate about the Motive brake bleeders. It is in some corner for years now and will eventually go in the bin, it is junk.

I always hated chains and threaded j-hooks. However you could adapt a Motive to the quick connects of Speedi-Bleed or [insert favorite adapter kit here]. We'll set aside concerns of fluid aeration for the sake of avoiding the weeds ;)
