racking my brain over next vehicle purchase

Just a couple questions. What is in the Ridgid Box? What jobs are you taking it to? Do you have to take it with you everyday or leave at the job site? If you take with you all the time, is it secured (bolted/locked/mounted in vehicle? How heavy is it with whatever you have loaded in it? How do you access it now (from vehicle opening top or take out to access)?

Make up a cardboard box the same size as it and try some of the vehicles to see how it fits at some dealers (used car places). My friend is an electrician he has a Jetta TDI wagon and loves it (40mpg+). He had a "cage" mounted in and the back windows are blacked out. Holds all his tools, small ladders and any other things. Most of his stuff is not that heavy. He also has a Kia Sorento, as well as a Ridgid box. If he is staying at a job for a while he takes the Sorento and Ridgid box on day one, Jetta the rest of time, Sorento last day. The box weighs more than most of the stuff he puts into it, which also effects mileage and wear on vehicle.

So the Ridgid box is a must? There are so many better options these days. That is unless you have to lock it up on site somewhere. We use them where I work for that reason alone. Just wondering.
