2004 Nissan maxima 160,000 miles
Before; I didn't have no problem expect I was having hard time turning steering wheel left and right, I did not have a leak. (Does this mean rack and pinion was going out)
After;
I did subframe and lower control arm bushing work. We put Nylatron bushing in. After front end job is done , we started hearing loud clunking noise at low speed when turning left/right and squeaking sound when hitting bump on the rod or going over dip road. The dude that did the work he couldn't find where noise is coming from. So I took it to my other buddy that work at firestone. He put the car on the lift and he find rack and pinion leaking and then he drop the car he told me rack and pinion leaking. He told me to bring it back tommor to check it out more, he look on my car for 5 min, so he said bring it back tommor so he can look into it more. Later, I got home and use car jack that came with the car, I grab the inner tie rod both front side and I can hear the noise like knock noise goes on as I move inner tie rod back and fourth. So the dude that did a work did he mess up my rack and pinion?
Can leaking rack and pinion make all that noise I describe above and do I need new rack and pinion? How I can tell rack and pinion is bad?
I'm gonna post the video off it.
