I was checking out cartridge oil filters for one of my cars at Wal Mart and surprisingly the SuperTech filter said made in the USA and it was ridiculously cheap (under $3.00). The other filters in stock were from Fram at about $6.00 and $9.00 each but NOT American made. Who would expect this?

Yep... I've seen carts from Bulgaria, Korea, China, USA... and what's stupid is it's all from the same brand. They switch makers week to week it seems.

I heart my spin-on... same quality filter for 10 years.. never changed.

Noticed my spin on Super Tech3614 at Walmart as well, Made in the USA

Champ Labs or something makes them so I hear....but yea, IMHO, the Super Tech filters look cooler than the FRAMs

The Champ labs Ecore style spin-on filter is a direct competitor to Fram in who can build a filter using the least metal parts.... and then make a marketing story about how it's good for the environment and your engine........ Picking between Fram and Ecore is like trying to pick a girlfriend from the nastiest strip club in town... There's no winning regardless of choice.

Keep in mind that just because it's made in the USA does not necessarily mean it's better than a filter made in another country.

True. But I am willing to buy made in USA filter if the price is not much more than a filter made in China or other countries. Specially the price of the USA filter that the OP posted is cheaper.

Except that I would bet that MOST of the time it IS a better filter than the one made in China or other thrid world slave wage nations.

You have to factor in the hidden cost of you fellow citizen. I hate buying as much imported stuff cause so much is not made in the USA. I am a lets pay the CEOS made in China wages!!!
