Also, thanks to the member who posted the link to the intake runner flap video. That sounds exactly like my focus. I'll pull the intake and remove those flaps. Yes I did say I couldn't tear into it. I can't dig into the mechanicals of the head, but I can pull an intake.

Not an RP fan. Not snake oil, but not the best at some things.

Most folks who want a quiet motor will try something like Delo400 15w40.

But, in your case if the flappers "fix" the problem, I'd prolly just go Maxlife 5w30 becasue of the accumulated mileage and see how that goes

Depending on the noise I have very good luck dumping in Sea foam to the oil,bringing it up to temp and then revving to 3500 for 10 minutes or so. Dump it then fill with the correct viscosity. If your covering up bearing knock or piston slap with heavier oil I mean why bother....unless your trading it in. By all means fill it straight with stp oil treatment.
