Gents, I have two questions. I've asked Exxon Mobil, and their inability to actually answer them is hilarious. So, I'd like y'all to take a crack at them:
1) Does Mobil 1 5W-30 Annual Protection, as is currently being sold, meet the Dexos1 Generation 2 specification?
2) Exxon Mobil makes a big deal about you NEED to change the oil at the 1 year mark. My Chevy Volt, if charged really often, will put a really low amount of miles on the engine over TWO years. GM says change the oil according to the OLM, but in no case should you let the oil stay in there for more than TWO years. The only requirements that GM puts on the oil is Dexos1 5W-30. Can I leave Mobil 1 5W-30 Annual Protection in for up to TWO years if the OLM says I can? (By the way, the OLM also keeps track of time, so it WILL flag the oil to be changed after no longer than TWO years.)
Just curious what y'all think?
