Dear Patman,

As you know, it has been claimed that Amsoil S2K lowers the oil temperate of the LS1. I am not disputing this claim.

My question to you is whether you have noticed a drop in your oil temperature since you switched over from Mobil 1 to GC in your Vette.

Thanks

I'd like to know too. I've had several people tell me that Amsoil S2k lowers their engine temps. Some are in other cars/trucks as well.

To be honest, I have no idea, because whatever oil was in my Corvette when I first picked it up was only in there for an hour or two, then I put in GC the very same day.

I do know that my oil temps are very good compared to other C5 owners I've heard talking online, although a big part of the help I'm getting is from the fact that my cooling fans are programmed to come on sooner, so even when I'm stuck in traffic a long time, my coolant never goes above 194F, and my oil temperature never gets too hot as a result. In fact most days my oil temp is about 200-205 on the highway (coolant temp is usually 189-190F). And even when driving hard I don't often see the oil go above 210F. So perhaps GC is helping keep the oil temps low for me. But without proper comparison time with other oils, I can't say for certain.
