They do....
A) The car comes with a 3 yr 36k warranty.

Actually 5yr 60K on powertrain for Honda's

OK, so you know of any cases where Honda transmission blew up within *that* period? I mean if you put Dexron or type F in the Honda at 30K miles, it might blow up the transmission before the 60K deadline but I suspect that does not happen often.

Guys with turbocharged Acura TLs run Type F in their transmissions (mostly the Redline and Amsoil versions of it) because it's the only fluid that keeps the transmission in one piece during WOT shifting. Many blown transmissions on Honda or Dexron type fluids on Acurazine. Type F or other "racing" fluids are the ones they use.

(Of course, they're not stock engines, so Type F wouldn't apply to street use, but it also doesn't kill the transmission.)

Use OEM transmission fluid that actually meets spec.

Sorry for your problem. But seeing that MaxLife wasn't the cause of your transmission's problem. Your transmission simply failed due to GM engineering not for quality but to the lowest cost possible, it had a hard fault, that would have occured had you left your old fluid in, or even if you flushed it all out and went with ACDelco branded Dexron VI.

You even admitted that you were mad, about being treated 'coldly', and having your claim for warranty shot down. Service reps often have bad days, and that warranty only covers fault, when the fluid fails, it is not a warranty that covers 'all' faults.

So your positive that using max life caused the failure, and had you done exactly what you did with oem fluid this failure wouldn't have happened?CORRECT.
So I also assume you can prove it was valvolines fluid failure, and not an internal transmission issue.NOPE.
Has anyone ever told you that if an automatic transmission hasn't had the fluid changed by 100000 miles then its not a good idea to change it. YES. (FYI THE TRANSMISSION ONLY HAD 73K).Or did you just jump in blindly.NO.
And since you didn't have the transmission torn apart to find the root cause of failure then all you really have is an opinion that one of the most widely used transmission fluids on our continent caused a failure in YOUR transmission and no one else's.YES. ALSO PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM OF,
"ONE OF THE MOST WIDELY USED...".

I would think if the fluid was at fault there would be more failures, don't you think, however yours was the only one that we hear about that failed.YOU THINK?
Stop crying. It's over. Buy a Honda next time,or maybe a ford.I'M NOT CRYING AND CURRENTLY OWN BOTH A HONDA AND A FORD.

Like I posted on the previous page already, type F fluid will not kill a transmission, but friction modified fluid will kill a transmission made for type F.

You call tell the Valvoline viral marketing agents are out in force trying to counter the bad publicity. LOL

Just that fact alone gives at least some credibility to Oil Changer's claim in my view.

Interesting how none of those marketing folk has addressed his real gripe, about how poorly Valvoline customer service responded to his situation, whether it was their fluid or not.

This Valvoline thing is rising to the level of insanity. One guy has a very anomalous problem ,CHOOSES to blame Valvoline with no proof of anything and suddenly, people are jumping on that bandwagon and making ridiculously ignorant statements. In other more serious venues, thinking like this ends up with people hanging from lampposts and others running around with torches and pitchforks.

I was trying to convey that Honda transmission which blow up could have had Z1 or DW1 in it and they still blow up. When they do blow up, Honda is NOT standing behind it because it is already past the mileage. To put another way, Z1/DW1 did NOT prevent it from grenading. People who think putting Honda DW-1 means Honda will buy you a new transmission are as deluded as the people who believe Valvoline will give you a new transmission.

EVEN IF fluid were to blow up engine or transmission, it will be pretty much impossible to prove it after the fact. The best you can do is to put compatible fluid in the engine and hope for the best and get some statistical (or anecdotal) samples. I mean unless the bottle had a wrong sticker on it and instead of oil, it had antifreeze in it, then I can see you engine/transmission blowing up because of "Wrong" fluid but even then you would be up the creek in terms of proving that manufacturer put the wrong fluid in the bottle.

Think this over please before believing in oil manufacturer's engine/transmission warranty.

Can we just make a sticky topic that states Oil Changer hates Valvoline and will bash them at any given opportunity???

I would recommend Oil Changer keeps his vandetta against Valvoline in the thread he started and not here.

The OP seemed concerned that Amalie's Wolfhead Universal ATF states it would cover Ford Type F specifications as well as those others listed.

I would heartily disagree with Amalie that its Universal ATF can cover both Type F and Universal apps and here is why:

ATF additive suppliers supply additive packages that are either Universal or Type F, but not both, because the fricton modificaton chemical compounds are different.

Yes, Ford Type F DOES have friction modifiers but they have different types with different levels of FM compounds.

Like I said the Valvoline viral marketing folks are here in droves trying to counter bad publicity.

And notice how they are NOT responding to the REAL issue
Oil Changer had with the company. It was about the poor handling of his call to customer service. It was obvious that they didn't give a [censored] about his concern and were blunt in their manner.

That being said I think their motor oil product is a decent one.

As I stated a moment ago, you and OC should make your comments in Oil Changers thread, not here because this thread is NOT about Valvoline but Amalie's Wolfhead Universal ATF.

If people keep baiting me, I'll keep replyig. I did not want to start this in the first place. Other members insisted I tell the whole story. When I did and spoke out against the coveted MaxLife I was attacked.

Don't be [censored] at me.

Here is an example of all specs covered: http://www.wolfshead.com/specsheets/universalsynthetic.pdf

I'm thinking that besides some ATF such as DexIII/Merc and TypeF, that most of the newer Mfg specific ATF are similar in charactor???

We're close to stringin' them up!

There is no fluid that will cover all specs. Maybe several similar ones, but there are too many differing trans designs on the market now.

I never like "universal" fluids, as they have to make a compromise somewhere...

A few ATF specifications. Some are mutually exclusive.

Viscosity @ 100C (cSt)
MERCON SP 5.5 min. and 6.0 max.
MERCON 6.8 min, no max
ATF +4 7.3 min. and 7.8 max.
DEXRON IIIH 6.8 min no max
DEXRON VI 6.4 max. no min

BROOKFIELD AT -40 (cP)
MERCON SP 5,500 min. 9,500 max.
MERCON 20,000 max.
ATF +4 10,000 max.
DEXRON IIIH 20,000 max.
DEXRON VI 15,000 max.
