I have a 2006 Toyota 4runner with about 41 000 miles on it . I know this gets into the time vs mileage debate , but should it be changed now? I was thinking on a radiator drain and fill as this model has the bottom radiator drain . I was / am going to use the toyota extra long life coolant, is this ok ?

Is the block Aluminum? The radiator is if stock. With block, radiator and heater core all the same metal the corrosion protection in the coolant tends to last longer. Still, it's cheap insurance to change it. Do you need the Toyota stuff? Prestone yellow jugs say good for all makes and models. There is a ton of infor on here about coolants.

I'm no expert - but my truck has over 230K on it...so...my opinion: if you're going to drain it, I would drain the block too - it's not much more work, but gets you to about 90% of the fluid instead of about 40-50% with a radiator drain. My V-6 has a small threaded brass plug on each side of the block.
Since you don't do it very often, just use the Factory fluid, then you're not worrying about compatibility...

IMO, I would stick to the Toyota stuff and just do a drain/fill at this point.
If you do a drain fill of the Toyota long life premixed coolant every 5 years or 50-60,000 miles you will never have any issues. They say that coolant can go 100k but I never let any coolant go that long. My T4R took about 1 gallon on the last d/f.
IIRC Toyota Pink is 7 years or 100,000 miles... then 3? years and 50,000 miles. Might as well.
