Has anyone ever used the BG or Lubgard cleaners...Will either of these products remove the grey pasty / slimmy film that the inside of the transmission is covered with...I have always keep the fluid on the clean side with regular changes, and with my last exchange done at 150k/mi, that greyish slime was very noticeable...

I have been using a LOT of trans pour-in cleaners and cycling fluid about every 1000 miles.. Fluid comes out dirty every time...

I think my pan would be one for the record books of grey good slime and sludge on the pan. If it ever gets dropped.

No need for the cleaners, the fluid does all the cleaning you will ever need. The slime is wear particles from the clutch packs and other internal parts. I highly doubt that they would remove them anyway.

I have been using Trans-X (both bottles) and Seafoam Trans Tune, with the red cap. They both appear to do well.. My issue is with the VSS.

both products as above you can only leave according to directions for a few minutes of run time, made to remove varnish so it says, which I guess is different from the grey pastey slime...

I use a few ounces of lubegard red each drain and fill for ongoing maintenance, but I don't see a need for anything more drastic. What product are you looking for?

There's absolutely no reason to ever put any additives in a healthy transmission. The grey "slime" is just clutch wear particles, and it doesn't ever accumulate any thicker than what you see in the bottom of the pan. The vertical surfaces in my AT's have never shown any hint of it. And even if they did, I wouldn't put any alleged cleaning spooge in there.

..not looking for anything, but 2 bottles of this stuff was given to me by a friend who drives a manual shift now..http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-178/LUBEGARD+Transmission+Flush ...out of respect to him is why I asked the question..the consensus here seems to be the same as I feel so I will pass it on..thanks

The actual truth is probably somewhere close to you here. While I agree a healthy slushbox is not in "need" of any additives, they all have filters that are little more than a screen door.

So perhaps a magnefine or some other aftermarket filtration is a good move.

Trav has shown remarkable reductions in trans temps with LG red, so I'm sure that someone somewhere could add some and help a bit with fluid life and thus trans life also.
