I have a question that might sound strange. We have a Volvo who needs a CJ4 (vds-4) and a MAN who wants the M3477 .
We want to buy 1 oil to use in the garage and want to buy a drum of 208 ltr.
Problem is as following .
If i buy CJ4 VDS 4 , it covers the Volvo but i dont cover the MAN specs.
And if i buy the oil who has the M3477 specs, all the oils that has this specs are CI/CF or Volvo VDS-3, so i cant use it on the Volvo.
The M3477 is MAN M3477: S.Ash < 1.0%, S < 0.25% (*), P < 0.08%, BN > 10
But it would be normal to think that criteria for CJ4 VDS4 is higher than CI4 VDS3 or am i missing some point here.
As Man garage is telling me that i can only use M3477 or it will affect warranty and clogging up my filters. Who is right, do i need 2 types of oil or can i buy the CJ4 VDS4 and use it on both?
