Question about the cargo lights on a 2004 F-250

These lights (the ones above the back window on either side of the third brake light) on my friend's truck were staying on while it is parked. I could not find any switch for them in the cab, and the owner's manual does not mention any switch. Since the truck is seldom used, I just disconnected the battery so it would not run down. But how are these supposed to be controlled? It is a fleet model truck with hand crank windows etc-- no fancy features-- and the electrical system should be completely stock.

Usually the headlight switch will have a way to turn the bed lights on even with the door closed.

I don't know if '04 got the "convenience" relay? If so, this isn't timing out like it should. Went through this on a bubble body ('03) F150

It's not the headlight knob. The big knob does exactly what you'd expect it to, and no more. It doesn't pull out or move beyond the three labeled clicks. Rolling the dimmer knob all the way up is supposed to turn the interior light on, but I think it is burned out. It doesn't affect the cargo light.

So yeah they might also call it the accy delay relay

Or the windshield is leaking and it's the notorious GEM issue

Do power windows --if so equipped-- work at all times? That said, I'm not 100% pw and the lighting both run through the relay in '04.

On my 2007 when I crank the dimmer up all the way it turns on the dome light and the cargo lights. Also when I hit the unlock button in the bonker (just heard a customer call a remote that and loved it) the cargo lights come on. FWIW I replaced the bulbs with Sylvania LEDs and they rock, same with the reverse lights.
