Quality oil filters

Every time I watch videos like this, the first thing that always strikes me is the total lack of safety systems. No light curtains on presses. No opto switches. No safety glasses. Nothing. Then I see all the opportunities for quality systems. And then I think of all the productivity improvements. For example, the oven for drying the paint on the cans is either way oversized, or they need to put in larger batches, to make better use of energy.

But hey, when you are paying some guy a couple dollars a day, and there are no recourses for him if he is injured, there isn't much incentive to make improvements.

probably how its was done before automation. you make due with what you have. we all get used to the tech in our lives these days. if we lost power for an extended time, these guys would be just fine, but the population of the us would be in deep donuts .

in these 3rd world countries lives are cheap. there is always another guy waiting to take your place .

At the end the filters are labeled as Fuel Filters. Is this a lost in translation thing?

These same machines probably made filters here in North America back in the 60's and 70's, but we had tables for the assembly process.

Can someone get the guy doing the spot welding a pair of safety glasses.

I just ordered a Fram Ultra 7317 from Amazon and I was appalled by the quality of it. It was sloppily painted gold and the black texturized end was unevenly applied. The worst I have ever seen, so bad I returned it because I was worried that it was a counterfeit. This has been my go to filter for years, maybe just a bad production run, once again maybe it was flawless on the inside but I am not taking any chances.

Just go to Walmart so you don't have to worry about counterfeits.

I normally do, but the Wally’s is out of the way and this was added to my existing order. I just went to the local NAPA and picked up a Gold 7055 for the wife’s Subaru and dropped the other filter off at the UPS store to return to the Amazon.

The last Ultra I bought from Walmart didnt look as pretty as they usually do. Gold paint was OK, but the grip black stuff was applied unevenly and more smooth than "grippy".

Inside of filter looked OK, but Ill be looking for alternatives next time.

Sounds exactly like the one I returned

I recommend you contact FRAM and report these quality control issues. However I believe they dunk the filters in that grippy material so I would not expect it to be perfect.

There are places in our world that lag behind us that's for sure. I would call this kind of sketchy but I'd have to really see the whole process to run one on my riding mower first. 😄
