I was at Pep Boys on Sat looking for the Q synthetic that was on sale for $2.99 after rebate, which of course they didn't have the rebate forms for, and noticed some Quaker state high milage oil. The 10w40 high mileage oil COMES WITH SLICK 50 in it?

What are they thinking? The other grades did not contain the lovely additive, only the 10w40. Not sure if I'd buy their synthetic stuff now, even with a rebate.

I'd use the QS+Slick 50 oil if it was F.A.R, or very, very cheap. I don't think it would hurt a thing.

I've never used Slick 50, but I'm not a Slick 50 hater either, like 93.7% of BITOGers are.

I needed to be sure that I wasn't just imagining seeing this oil last Saturday. So, I went down the street to WM on my lunch break to check again.

Sure enough, there it was; Quaker State High Mileage 5w30 with Slick 50. They only had it in the big 5 or 6-qt jug, so I didn't buy any to take pics of. I will stop at the WM near my house this evening on my way home from work & buy a qt. & snap a couple of pics.

My searching this afternoon yielded only 5 qt. containers of QS HM w/Slick 50. I'm not dropping $11 on oil, just for a picture.

I'll try a couple of different WM's tomorrow.

Surfstar just by the "Q" syn at Walmart I see it for $3.50 all the the time here and it is made with EOP it should be good for a good 7-10k OCI.

A lot of people say Slick50 is worthless, but I have never heard of anyone actually being able to prove it did damage to their engine. Our 300,000+ mile Camry had multiple doses of Slick 50 back in the early 90s and it is still running great today.

Could be Slick 50 is the reason .... now there is something to debate.

Or, it could be the oil changes with Pennzoil (conventional) every 3,000-4,000 miles.

This was discussed before. Nobody could find any oil that had Slick50 premixed into it. It you could get a picture, it would be great.

I saw it at WM on Saturday. It's for real. I'll go buy a qt. today & snap a picture this afternoon when I get home. Then, I'll return it to WM & exchange it for an oil filter.

My understanding is that the old Slick 50 has been reformulated since Pennzoil/Shell purchased it.

However, until I see proof that it's changed, I won't buy it - or anything that contains it anymore.

It was owned by quakerstate when the FTC took them down. I am not sure it QS was part of SOPUS at this time or not. If they are still using teflon, I wouldn't use it.

No .. neither Slick 50 or Quaker State was part of SOPUS at that prior time. Both Slick & QC have gone thru changes since.

But just like you.... I won't touch the Slick 50 ...until I see a VOA anyways.

Here it is, BITOGers. I bought it at the Wal-Mart in Scottsboro, AL. It was $2.39
EDIT: I was actually going to use this oil, until I realized that it IS NOT API certified. It doesn't have ANY specs listed anywhere on the bottle. I'll be returning this oil to W-M today.

I went on the quaker state web site and tryed the product data sheets and every time i tryed it said the page can"t be found. It worked for all their other products.
