I'm thinking about using Quaker State for the life of my new Hyundai as per the Hyundai recommendation. Maybe gonna go for the "300,000 mi" gimmick.
So... I went to Wal-Mart today and was flabbergasted at the multitude of oils available in 5w-20 conventional from Quaker State.
Ultra this, Super that, Extended this, High Mileage that. I don't even remember the real names but I think I saw 4 different conventional motor oils (all made by Quaker State) and all in 5w-20 that I want to run.
Now what the [censored] guys? Is there really any difference in these 4 mineral oils in the same grade (5W-20) ????
How on earth could someone make the right decision? I mean is the cheapest one gonna show more wear in the engine? Is the most expensive gonna be a whole lot more protective? Its enough to make me want to go to a company that offers ONE oil in 5W-20.
I mean, whats the deal? Does the cheapest one wear the most and the wear slowly lessens until you buy the most expensive one and then almost all wear stops?
I'm confused!
Can someone explain the logic behind this nonsense? Is it just a marketing ploy to get more money out of people for the same product?
Any comments or opinions will be carefully considered
I'm lost. Help.
