I know that most synthetics are good. I looked at PQIA's ratings for synthetic motor oils. I take it that a high TBN and a low NOACK is good. That said, Quaker State Ultimate Durability has an above average TBN with a decent NOACK compared to others. A really good balance for the price. Was really surprised by this. And a pretty low price to boot.

Yes many of us already know about this and it was one of the best sleepers until they raised the price to be more competitive. I believe it used to be right at $20 for a jug now its more.
Last year AZ was blowing the SN in the clear bottles out for $2 a qt, same spec just the new bottle change.

Yes, the PQIA results look good. But the PQIA Noack is lots and lots lower than the values the manufacturer claims on its technical data sheets. This seems to be another example of SOPUS filling bottles with whatever "better stuff" is temporarily available, but it doesn't necessarily represent what you'll get at the local WalMart.
Until and unless SOPUS changes the TDS, I'd assume that's what you're getting. And it isn't the relatively great Noack PQIA found.
