Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w20 ? 2012 Mustang GT

I just bought a 2012 Mustang GT w/5.0 and seeing that it takes 5w20 I have a boatload of Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w20 but I see it has zero approvals from any manufacturers. Would I have any potential grief from Ford in the unlikely event of some sort of engine problem if I use this oil?

I use Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W20 in my 06 Mustang GT and 01 Escape. I know it has the latest Ford approval. I would think the 0W20 would also. Personally, I have never found Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0W20 stocked in the stores I go to.

I checked Quaker State site today and the 0w20 has zero approvals. Im guessing QS doesn't want to pay for the certifications since this is a low volume seller.

In a brand new expensive car under warranty,I`d honestly play it safe and use an approved oil.

Like a warranty claim is going to be denied because you used a 0W-20 synthetic instead of a 5W-20 conventional (they are all basically a semi-synthetic, anyway)...

How in the world are they supposed to find that out?

I figured if I use the 0w20 I would just list it in my manual as Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20.

The odds of them even checking are slim. When was the last time you heard of an engine failure or warranty denial due to engine oil in a properly maintained engine? They will never know and who's to say if they are even using the correct grade at any given time at the dealer.

Simple: run the 5w20 until the warranty is up, then switch to 0w20.

Does the manual specify SM?

I bet the 0-20 is SM and not SN.

It specify's a Ford Spec, makes no mention of SM of SN, etc.
