Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability

Hello and who here is using PP and or Quaker State Ultimate Durability and how do you guys like it? I have some Quaker State Ultimate Durability 0w20 and some Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 to use up. Just wondering what you guys think and if there are any major differences between the two. If I run the Quaker State Ultimate Durability or PP I would run it to 7500-8000 then UOA the oil.

I prefer Pennzoil. Ferrari endorses Shell, which is the same as Pennzoil. Ferrari factory fills with Shell Helix Ultra, which is the same as Pennzoil Ultra.

Quaker State is like a cousin of Pennzoil, good stuff.

I've been happy with Quaker State Ultimate Durability for a few years now. Relying on the fact that major brand syns are all very good, I went with it because it was the cheapest, and then they kept on offering rebates.

PP looks better on paper though due to lower NOACK.

Thanks guys, and I dont mind that the Quaker State Ultimate Durability is like $20 at wal mart. I have used Quaker State Conventional before and know it wont hurt my engine.

If you want low NOACK scores, go with Synpower. Beats both Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability.

Back on topic, current fill in the Acura is Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 and I like it so far. Of course its got less than 500 miles on it. So far the engine is quiet and revs really smooth. Just like any other time with any other oil lol. The only oil it hasnt liked so far has been the GTX+EDGE blend I had in it before this round of PP.

Search threads started by me. I have one with a Valve cover shot of my car with mostly sodium additive based oils. Dont knock on the power of sodium, Valvoline has proved many times over it works just as well as zinc/moly/boron/calcium/Ti for what its supposed to do.

I use PP in my Jeep if PU is not available. But normally I never find PU in NY and always in MA. Good in live on the border.

If Quaker State Ultimate Durability is the cousin to PP would it be worth the extra few dollars for the PP? I understand that most would say the PP is the better of the two but what is the major difference between the two? I have used PP for a while and love it but if Quaker State Ultimate Durability is basically the same I might as well save a few dollars and throw that money on the oil filter.

I wouldnt hesitate to go the Quaker State Ultimate Durability with a pure 1 filter or bosch filter myself. I have some P1 filters, may try a bosch this time.

Choice between Pennzoil Platinum and Quaker State Ultimate Durability ? I like PP better, mainly because of the simple name and nice looking bottle. Pennzoil Platinum is a much easier to remember, Quaker State Ultimate Durability is too long to pronounce.

The easiest name/number to remember is 1, as in Mobil 1 or M1.

Use an orange can, it is ok.

PP is a calcium heavy addpack ( detergent ) and Quaker State Ultimate Durability is more biased towards anti wear with a nice dose of Boron additives. Make your choice based on what you need the oil to do for you.

Thanks bourne, and I am not a fan of the Frams. I have some non ecore ST 7317's to use. Never a issue with them. Never used a Fram also, just never thought of it.

The only Fram I really like is the new Ultra. But with current sale on Mobil 1 at AAP, you can get 5 Mobil 1 filters for $30+tax. Very hard to beat that price if you want a long distance synthetic media filter.
And Mobil 1 filters are made by Champion labs, parent company of Fram.

Bosch makes Bosch filters. Bosch and Mann+Hummel together own Purolator now.
