The last few times I was in my local store, Quaker State Ultimate Durability was nowhere to be found. There was not even a place for it on the shelf anymore. I asked a worker and of course he did not know anything about anything. Then tonight I happen to browse the clearance aisle and find 2 5qt jugs on the bottom shelf along with various chinese junk with red price stickers. I think the price was still $19.53. I then went to another walmart a little farther away and they are still stocked with it! Anybody know what might be up? I thought maybe it wasnt a huge seller and they may be phasing it out. Why would one store have it and not the other?

managers look at the numbers and shelf space. It may sell at one and not the other. I have 2 wal marts within 6 miles of my house. While most of the oil aisle is the same, one may carry a limited number of different oils than the other

Walmarts are all different for the most part. Months ago people were saying their WM's didn't carry PU mine still does same as with Quaker State Ultimate Durability. I would complain, that is a pretty popular oil

Me too. It runs great in my cars, very quiet and its a good deal too. With walmarts prices you can hardly afford to buy oil anywhere else, esp in this economy. And I would rather not buy from wallys.

Both close Walmarts have it here. Been thinking of giving it a try once I finish my Mobil 1 stash. The other one I'm considering is Castrol Edge. I wanted to try Redline but to do that my OCI would go to 1 year to justify that at just under 10k miles a year.

I once complained to Walmart online about the lack of Motorcraft FL-500S oil filters...reply said to contact store manager...did so...manager said she didn't even understand what a Motorcraft filter was & suggested I contact another Walmart.

Good grief! They lost my business...not that they care.

We still have Quaker State Ultimate Durability. However at current price ($19.53) Im not sure how well its selling against Pennzoil Platinum ($18.75).

Heck, around here Pennzoil Platinum is over $24 for the jug at W.Mart. Ultra is over $28 for the jug.

For regular prices, Walmart pretty much can't be beat. But if you find rebates or clearances and build up a bit of a stash, time-wise you can perpetually shop rebates and clearances and do much better than Walmart's regular prices. I'm just putting synthetic in my vehicles now and won't buy anything unless it is under three dollars per quart. But I still have about fifty quarts of Synpower I got for about two dollars per quart last fall.

Same here. That's what has kept me from trying Ultra. It's not that I don't think the oil is worth it, but I have plenty of choices for less and I'm a value for money guy. If it turned out that Ultra was the one oil that helped really quiet my loud GM V8 valvetrain, I'd buy it gladly. M1 sure isn't the answer!

Keep checking prices. I was just at the Walmart in Lakewood, Washington about an hour ago. PP was $18.75 for a 5 qt jug; PU was $22 for a 5 qt jug. If I didn't have so much oil already sitting in my garage, I would have bought some. These are current regular prices and not sale prices.

None of my local Wal-marts carry Quaker State Synthetic either. Wish they did if it would really be under $20 for a 5 qt jug! They don't even carry the quarts.

I spoke to a manager and he said more than likely it wasnt selling so they used the space for something else. The walmart closest to me that has it is 11 mi farther, ill probably just start using pp, as id rather pay4.50 more than drive 22 miles! Walmart! Ugh
