Quaker State Q 4X4 Synthetic Blend

Does anyone know what base oil this has in it? I did a search, and found one thread with "group II and Group III" reference but that's all, and I am not sure about it.

I think it has been discontinued, I found it on clearance and would like to stock up.

It is a blend of Group II and Group III. You are correct in that it has been discontinued. It was replaced with Q Torque which is a Group III synthetic. The 4X4 blend is a very good oil.

Would the Q 4X4 Synthetic blend 15w40 be classified as A HDEO?

Not quite as robust as a Rotella or Delo, but close. Good choice for a diesel pick-up.

If it's cheap and your stockin' up I would use it without hesitation, but if it's the same price as Pennzoil platinum or Mobil-1 etc. I would use that instead.

The Q 4X4 is clearing out for $2.77 a US quart. I am going to use it in my 91 BMW 735.

Most brand name oils are starting at $4.00 for a liter for the entry level product. (Walmart has the green 5 liter bottle of QS 10w30 or 5w30 for $11.99, but I am guessing this is a group I oil.)

Looks like i'm going shopping tommorow...
