Been thinking about running it in my 2011 2.3l Ranger. I heard it helps quiet down the noisey 4 cylinder. Would I be better off with Kendall or Motorcraft?
Hard to say what oils quiet down what engines. Pennzoil conventional seems to work for some and Motorcraft semi-syn is what it came from the factory with, so these would be good choices. On the full synthetic side, some report Quaker State Ultimate Durability runs quietly as well. But don't expect miracles.
You would be better off with whatever is cheaper at the time. All of them are very good. MC is one of the best 5w20's for the money IMO and Kendall has an exceptional additive pack compared to most. I would go with Kendall or MC if all were the same price, but all are great lubes.
I used Quaker State 5w20 in my wife's Santa Fe and it was noisy on start up. Same thing with the 5 w 30 I used in my silverado. Two out of two negatives for me, but it was the bulk pack oil at Walmart so maybe there is a difference between that and what they put in the bottle.
