Quaker State filter made by Purolator ?

I just cut open a couple of Quaker State filters for the first time. I *thought* that the string around the media was a Purolator trademark. Neither of the Quaker State filters had string around them. Does this definitely mean they are not Purolator made ?

I have never personally seen a string on a Purolator. The oil filter study that had them is very, very old. My guess is that they eliminated them years ago.

I recently cut open a Maxlife oil filter (made by Purolator). It had the string around the media. Here's a link to the thread with pics:

Purolator-made Motorcraft filters also have the string.

Quaker State filters are made by Purolator.

Pennzoil filters are made by Honeywell and Purolator.

Shell filters are made by Honeywell and Purolator.

Pennzoil and Quaker State filters might be different? That's interesting because aren't they owned by the same company?

Yes they are. They are owned by Shell Oil and Shell dose business with many suppliers.
