I'm thinking about cashing in on that rebate deal, but I don't really know anything about this oil.

Group III, IV, or V???

And does anyone know anything about the "Maximum Torque" gimmick(I'm guessing it's a gimmick)??

At $3/qt after rebate, how does it compare to other synthetics in the 5W-30 grade?

I guess my obvious question would be: what other Synth are $3/qt without rebates? My guess is not many.
ST comes to mind. No reason not to buy it if you are cost conscious. I mean has there been any UOA or VOA that says negatively about this oil?

Yeah, I will prob still get some, but I'd still like to know a bit more about it...

I like my extended OCIs, so no ST for me...

The recent rebate is a great deal, for what should be a great oil. (dunno bout the "max torque" claim though)

Price per quart comes out to $1-$1.66 per quart. Cant beat that. Depends on which rebate you find...

$25 per 6qt case w/tax - $15 rebate = $1.66 qt
or
5 qts @ $4 per qt - $15 rebate = $1 qt

What is extended for you? I know some ppl think that's 5-7.5k miles which is coverable by all synth.
So unless you are going pass that...

Where is it at $4/qt?? Our Wal-Mart has it at $5/qt and Autozone is $5.50/qt

7.5k is usually my max OCI, but it can take a long time to get that sometimes. I've seen the low TBN numbers on ST synth UOAs and I'd just rather spend the extra $$ on Mobil 1 or Synpower...Just my view....

Pep Boys (through Saturday) has the choice of PP or QS synths 6-packs for $26.94 from which you can subtract their $15.00 rebate and the Pennzoil $15.00 MasterCard gift card rebate or QS TorquePower $15.00 check rebate. That's right, a freebie even after postage and tax, unless your tax is ~ 8.25% or higher.

Now, if one were interested in getting a 6-pack of a viscosity they have in common (5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30), which would be the better choice? Enquiring and money-saving motor oil minds want to know.

Menards has each QS full syn oil @ $3.99 all day. Their "sale price" was $3.89.

Where can you get the info on the gift card or QS rebate?

The oil is called Quaker State TorquePower. Its so new that its not even included in the QS home page on the internet. Here's what an ad magazine says about the TV add, which you might have seen:

"The broadcast spot, set on a mountain highway, opens with a shot of a large pickup waiting to enter the freeway as semi tractor-trailers whiz by. A voiceover starts, “There are times you’ve gotta ask yourself… Do you think you’ve got the torque?...or do you know you’ve got the torque?”

After introducing the product through an image of golden oil pouring into an engine, liquid horses run toward the camera and the truck is shown easily passing traffic as it rolls down the highway."

In my opinion this is just advertising bull. Another gimmick to get people to buy the product.

If you're uncertain about using the PDF file option, I saw the official pre-printed coupons for the $15.00 gift card PP rebate at AutoZone yesterday.

Quaker State Power Torque - no other motor oil provides more torque from your engine.

Castrol GTX - no other motor oil provides more power from your engine.

I guess the smart money would be to run a 50-50 blend of the two, huh?

G-I-M-I-C-K, folks! (unless either or both companies got the cajones to actually claim that its/their product(s) deliver more torque or power than competitive brands - and when that happens, that's the day their entire legal staff walks out the door in masse)

Ray, we all know they have marketing hype (@ least I do). I'm more curious to see if any1 notice a lack of something in this newer oil. @ .39cents/ qt after rebate, it's more cost effective to say the least!

Advance auto parts has it BOGO right now.

makes it .52/qt
I purchased 12 today... my dad is getting 12 also..
and my gf, grandma and friend are all mailing rebates in...

IIRC, both of those ads have fine print that say something like: '..when compared to conventional motor oil'. Well, DUH!
