QS Defy actually a full synthetic?

So I was surfing msds's for motor oils and came across the msds for Defy. Now I know ususally you cant tell for sure which base oils are Group II, II+ or III but this explicitly states, "synthetic base oil and additives. Highly refinded mineral oil only present as additive diluent. The Quaker State Ultimate Durability msds's states the same thing which is a full synthetic. Thoughts?

AFAIK Quaker State Ultimate Durability is a group 3

If the MSDS is accurate, then Defy is an incredible value.
FWIR, Grp III basestock prices have been declining, so it may be that SOPUS is using an inexpensive source of Grp III.

Right but you can't always tell the difference of some base oils based on cas numbers was my point. However like the 0w20 for Quaker State Ultimate Durability says a blend of esters and others, for example.

Quaker Dtate's website describes Defy as a "Synthetic Blend" motor oil, fwiw. Don't know why they would say that if it was a full syn, unless they're afraid of cannibalizing Quaker State Ultimate Durability sales.

FWIW

I have SN Defy in my truck right now and it's great. Oil pressure at startup is a little lower than ST conventional. Leads me to believe it's pumping along nicely.

My trucks pushrods like it.

The Buick (now at 109K) seems to be burning less oil since I went with Defy.

I used Defy in 5w30 for a portion of last winter and starts were fantastic, very surprising for a "thickish" High Mileage 5w30 oil.
