Is this oil for your Cummins? They are tough engines I would bet the Q.S. is 100 times better than the oil were when the engine was built .

Naw I only have 6 qts. I wish I had 12 gallons for the Cummins! It's gonna get ST oil this time around.

I can't decide whether to put it in my IHC pickup with a 392 or my 4.0L Jeep.

It's probly still a little cold for it in the Jeep.

I'm just wondering if it's Rotella.

I highly doubt that. If memory serves, Cummins are both tested and supplied with Valvoline Premium Blue 15w40; a very well respected and manufactured lube. Is the QS diesel oil better or worse? I'm not sure. But I'm confident that it's not "100 times better" than what was shipped in a Cummins.

Did they have Premium Blue when mine was built in 1962?

No sir, they did not. Did anyone have 15w40 in 1962?

I drove for an owner operator in early 70's that was leased to FFE and he ran Delo 100 30wt in his 290 Cummins.

I can't comment with certainty if Premium Blue 15w40 existed back then. I rather doubt it though. I am at fault for not realizing you were inferring to such old oil specs.

I'm sure the QS HDEO is a good product. Probably not on a par with Delo, Delvac or Rotella. But I trust Johnny when he says it's likely rebadged Rimula, or something close to it.

But for it to be 100 times better, infers that the oils back then were 100 times worse. I do understand the joys of exaggeration, but that's a bit much. Still, your point is taken into account. My appologies.

I was kinda poking fun at you. I knew that you had not seen or realized that when my old truck is mentioned that it's a real old truck. Well real old for a Peterbilt anyway.

It's a 1962 Peterbilt 281. It still has it's original 280hp Cummins and it still runs. It's the same model that chased Dennis Weaver in Duel.

I'm sure that mine ran a lot of miles on SAE30 in it's life.

Anyway since Shell ownes Pennzoil and QS I was wondering if the oil I have is relabled Rotella. It might be Rimula too I guess.

I'm sure that it's as good as Delo, Delvac, Rotella or Rimula for what I use it for.

OT. Here's the truck...

It is definitely not rebadged Rotella T. The closest thing to the Rotella T would be the Pennzoil Long Life Gold product. I checked with a source this afternoon and he said the QS 15w40 is extremely close to Rimula.

Chris, is that yellow car your parked next to a 49 or 50 model Ford?
