any issues in running Pennzoil conventional 5w20 in a brand new 2011 Fusion with 3000 OCI's? Also using Motocraft filters.

Is its 5W-20, then go for it. No other grade is needed for this engine.
Nothing but Motorcraft is needed for this engine either, but hey, Pennzoil conventional might even be better, so use it, sure. 5W-20 ONLY!
I maybe would put Castrol Edge or Syntec in there too (in 5W-20) and be done with it, OR Syntec's 0W-20 (Edge's 0W-20? This car Edge may make sense) but hey.. Syntec is fine too.

Run it 3k for the first change and then 5k after that.
Great plan, especially staying with the MC filter. I highly recommend MC syn blend oil also (though Pennzoil Conventional is great). Both are available at WalMart.
Can't recommend Pennzoil conventional yet - it's a new formulation. Should be OK. FORD= MC oil unless you want Full Synthetic then you have to go European or Redline or Amsoil. US "syn" is just high detergent highly refined conventional oil.
OP everyone is basically saying "Stick with MC Blend at WalMart IN 5W-20" and i have to +5 that.

Absolutely no issues at all. Only thing different I would do is change it at 5K instead of 3K.

that would be ok but i like the motorcraft 5w20 its a great oil from conoco phillips and is cheap in wal mart. They also say it is blended to ford specs.

Unfortunately, WalMart doesn't stock the Motorcraft FL500S oil filters required for 2009-2011 Fusion V6 engines.

After your first OCI, follow the manual and go 6 months or 7500 mi. 3000 OCIs would be a waste of good oil -- unless you're a taxi driver.
Both the old and new Pennzoil conventional meet Ford's specifications, so I wouldn't hesitate at all to use it.
The only "issue" is that you're wasting money and natural resources unnecessarily. I'd simply follow the car's oil life monitor. It's there for a reason, and while it's relatively new versus GM's, it uses similar logic. It's a lot more accurate proxy for your oil's condition that time or mileage, and the upper limit of it (1 yr/10K miles) is very conservative.

The "oil life monitor" in late model Ford products is simply a calendar (6 month countdown)and mile counter (to 7500 or 10,000 in the hybrids) and in no way is as sophisticated as GM's OLM. That said, the motorcraft works great in all the vehicles we encounter in the Houston area for the specified intervals, from people driving a thousand miles a year to those doing 30k. (And I have to admit other oils work just as well.) Here at Bayway Lincoln-Mercury we see 60-70 cars a day through the shop and zero base engine problems on vehicles adhering to the above regimin. Any sludgers we see (ONE this year) seem to be lacking any real maintenance record, then people wonder why.......
