I agree! If PYB was a syn/blend, SOPUS would have marketed it a such, the way Motorcraft has marketed their oil(5W20/5W30) as a syn/blend.

PYB is a good Group II/II+ motor oil(I don't really know what II+ is) held in high regard here at BOB's as well as other sites on the web and also, PYB has a good additive package that contributes to it being a good oil. Use it with confidence!

Even if PYB did have in it some Group III(just a smidgen), they're not saying so as not to infringe on their own syn/blend oil sales...Does Pennzoil even have a syn/blend oil on the market? I know that they once did and I have seen a HM oil! And we all know about PP and PU!

Anyway!...

But very hard to find.

Another one of their excellent marketing jobs.

Yep...I've never seen it here, much like their Euro 5W-40

To bad Pennzoil makes some of their product hard to find, as it is good stuff, but if I have to jump through hoops to get it, forget it!

I've heard to manufacturer a 5W-20 oil, there's gotta be at least "some" synthetic in the mix.

Due to the way base-stock/crude comes or something.

So sure, they aren't marketing it as a "blend" but it could possibly be. But granted, there are a bunch of great UOAs with it in use...

I rather doubt that. If there was even 1% synthetic it could (and would) be marketed as a blend and cost more.

I would think so as well but it would seem that isn't the case. Valvoline recently removed the synthetic blend labeling from the Maxlife bottle but confirmed it is still a blend.

I actually called SOPUS about their HM and they confirmed that the HM and PYB are not blends.

I don't know if it's a legal issues or a gentleman's agreement, but the syn blends have to be, I believe, between 15-30% synthetic in order to be marketed that way. If you check the MSDS the blends are all this way. But like I said, I'm not sure why this is the case.

The GOLD is a 50/50 blend , was told this over the phone by the technical division of Pennzoil . It's very scarce and if you do find it the price is too high . Have to agree it's very poor for sales .

The same 6 bottles of Pennzoil Gold synthetic blend have been at our local O'Reilly's for the last 8 months.

It's not a high demand item and often more expensive than PP (during sales).
