This tooWhat vehicle/oil/OCI?
I have cut open quite a few of the blue can PL14477's off of this car and they've always looked good. I did cut open an old yellow can PL14477 off of this same car that had a pretty good sized tear in the media, that was disappointing. But the blue cans on this Camry, the Highlander (PL10241) and the K1500 (PL15313) have always looked great.Tks, I use this filter. Good to know it looks like a quality item.
Thank you for deciphering the date code slacktide. It came off of a 2000 Toyota Camry with the 5SFE 2.2 Liter. When I pulled this filter off the car had 223,001 miles, and 4,057 miles on the oil and filter. It was a mixture of leftover Chevron Supreme 10W30 and Havoline Deposit Shield 10W30.F05K18E2
F = Fayetteville, NC
05 = May
K = 2018
18 = the 18th day of the month
So May 18, 2018
Yay no tears in the media and no slits in the ADBV
What did you replace it with?
This too
No problemLooks good, thanks
Knew it was a Toyota just by how little dirt was in the filter. Every cartridge filter I take off looks barely used even after 10kSorry, I must be doing something wrong, I cannot figure out how to write along with the pictures.
This is a Purolator PL14477 that was on our 2000 Toyota Camry with the 5SFE 2.2 Liter for 4,057 miles. The Camry has 223,001 miles on it. Oil ran was a mixture of leftover Chevron Supreme 10W30 and Havoline Deposit Shield 10W30.
Went back in: Napa Gold 1348 and just a hair under 4 quarts of Shell Rotella T4 15W40.
No problemLooks good, thanks
You are correct, the suggested filter is 4967/14476/1394 but I run 4386/14477/7145 on it since to me the slightly longer filter just seems closer to "normal". I have a good sized stash of filters for the Camry, but with them being all packed away during a move I went to Walmart to pick up a PH4386 and noticed that they no longer stock the 4386 in any of Fram's lineup (PH/TG/XG), and their book now lists 4967 as the replacement for the car I usually use to lookup oil filters to get the slight upsize (2004 Camry with the 2.4, factory spec'd for the larger 4967/14476/7145). I checked when we were at the Walmarts closest to us, (Snyder and Sweetwater), with no luck. Abilene is about an hour away, and the closest big city, so when we were there I checked, and sure enough, no 4386's. I checked at O'Rielly's but the Wix 57145 and Microguard MGL7145 and Bosch 3311 are now made in Mexico, so I ended up grabbing some PH4386's at Lowes. Sad to see the Wix, Bosch and Microguard now outsourced. I haven't seen a Purolator lately, so I'm not sure if they are as well, but I assume that they are.Looks excellent.
The 14476/14677, 14610/14612, don't have issues with adbv slits because the central portion adbv is narrow and no part rests directly on inlet holes. Thus no adbv slits/cuts. In other words, it's properly designed.
Seems you went with an oversize filter this time going with the NG1348. Doubtful it's needed, but maybe you had a filter you wanted to use up. Without looking it up, I'm thinking the Corolla spec size 'might' be the 14476/(4967) shorty. I don't call the topic 14477/(4386) an oversize, but rather a "sensible upsize." Same specs as the shorty, just 3/4" longer, more media area. Same goes for 14610/(7317) vs shorty 14612/(6607).
Thanks for c&p.
I hope you are correct about the PureOne getting some love. I haven't seen one in a while unfortunately, but from what I've seen from their other filters, I'm a bit worried that they are no longer made in USA. If so, then the Fram will be my go to. I did pick up a Microguard for my truck recently, but the MGL57145 was made elsewhere, so I passed. I'll be changing the oil on the truck soon and putting the Microguard on there, I'm excited to try it, as I've never ran a Microguard before.I've always suspected (read: wanted to believe) that the Purolator ONE filters get some love from M&H. Although this is an older date code, I want this to support my confirmation bias. The only real drawback I can think of with these is that I don't believe that have quite as many sq in of media as some of the competitors.
Not to derail, but I'm still thinking that a PureGuard-made Microgard Select is the way to go. That had 6 sq in more media than the next competitor I was comparing.
I can readily get the blue Pure Ones from my local Menard's for a pretty decent price (for now, anyway).I hope you are correct about the PureOne getting some love.
