I picked up one of these to the tune of $33 for my 04 2500hd 4x4. It almost looked like a blue synthetic type of media.

any opinions?

I will probably purchase on for my '00 Grand Am GT here soon. I don't think you can go wrong with Purolator.

How's the construction of the filter? Is this a re-useable filter or just "longer life" filter? How's the fit in your airbox? Any other impressions?

They've been discussed here a bit before, when I first spotted them boxed up in the back when they came off the truck. They use the same numbering for the Pure Ones, only with a P in front. Just like their oil filters. They should fit each application exactly as the non-Pure One filters did. Don't confuse these with reusable performance filters. They're disposable, higher capacity oiled paper filters.

They seem to be really well made, and supposedly filter better and flow slightly better than their regular paper filters. The extra capacity certainly would extend their life, and I prefer disposable filters with the best filtration. The only thing that puts me off is that I don't have much positive experience with oiled air filters to begin with. But they're not soaked in oil, and are designed to filter better first and foremost, so I will probably be considering them more seriously when my current filter is loaded.

Where have you guys found them??? I haven't seen them hit Atlanta! We have Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Advance...

Quite curious...

I've heard some people say Advance Auto. You might call them and ask them if they can order you one. That's what I'll do if I can't find them on a shelf somewhere.

Advance auto

They are not oil coated, if they are its VERY light. The media seems to be much thicker than AC delco and the standard Purolator.

I counted 70? pleats on the standard purolator, and 5 more on the pureone purolator.

My silicon levels remain high with my oil analysis, they were high (19) with the a/c delco, 17 with the purolator, and hopefully they'll go down this time.

My store carries many of them on hand, but any Advance should be able to order them as long as we have access to one for your application.

They are definitely oiled, and it advertises it right on the box. But like I said "But they're not soaked in oil" meaning it's pretty light. They do have nice thick, dense media. If your silicone levels are unusually high, make sure your tubing is clean, and the filter seats well. Anyway, that should decrease with a better filter and also as it loads up. Initially they always let more through.

Do they make one for the Corolla/Matrix? 03-05? I don't see it on the shelf.

I'm suprised it seems that there are never K&N filters or thes Pure One air filters etc stocked at stores...not like there isn't 8 million Corollas running around

Seems crazy to have to special order parts for these cars

Check the purolator site then check the advance auto parts site for the part #. It should tell you which store has it in stock.

Just purchased older round style Pure One for my dad's 92 Dakota at Advanced Auto. Was less than $9 with dollar-off sale. Regular Purolator was just 5$. Thought it might be worth the bit extra since his truck is a keeper. I wonder how much better the Amsoil Ea would be? Probably be overkill for his old truck cost-wise.

I wonder if Purolator and Amsoil use exactly the same blue colored media made (licensed) by Donaldson.

Cool. I bought a filter for my sisters 98 Expedition and my girlfriends 2003 Maxima. Just installed it on my sisters car and I'm not sure if the Butt Dyno picked up anything but she need another air filter.

Wow. And I thought I paid a lot at $24.

Back of the box says they are but you're right, they do have a very light coat.

For a little more $$$, can't you get a K&N air filter.

Depends on the car. For example my girlfriends Pureone filter was $11 and I believe her K&N was about $40. K&N's are usually never less than 40 bucks. Then again my sisters Pureone filter was $24 and the K&N was about $45. I have no issues with K&N filters at all but if this filter performs as well as Purolator claims it does then I would use it in all my automobiles. Especially if it holds double the dirt.

RE: K&N

I just replaced my K&N panel filter on my '00 Grand Am GT 3.4L V6. I replaced it with a new Purolator PureOne filter.

Let me tell you, the difference in quality was night and day. The Purolator looked and felt vastly superior to the K&N. Not only was the Purolator media much taller, there were 74 pleats compared to 44 pleats of the K&N. Another thing I noticed is the fitment. The Purolator was a snug fit and there was no play in the filter once I put it in the airbox. I can't say the same thing about the K&N.

After it was all said and done, there's no way I'm going to back to K&N. I just don't see how it could filter as good as the Purolator. Plus, the Purolator was only $12. Over a long period of time, the Purolator costs a little more, but it's worth it in my opinion.

I agree the Pure One is superior in quality to the K&N. Also to the Amsoil foam, which was a ***. They seem to have done a good job on this one.

K&N makes a beautiful oil filter, though way over priced @ $13. Pure One filters better, and is only slightly less robust at half the price.

I wanted to get the Pure One air filter for my Focus.
Unfortunately it's not available at the moment.
If you're in the same boat, email Puralator and express your desire to buy the filter.

Here is a response I got:

"The PureOne air filter line is a new product line for the company.
Demand for the product is still being evaluated. At the present time a PureOne version of the A25324 (Ford Focus) is not available.
However, new products will be added to the line as demand indicates."

I went with the the Amsoil EaA for now.

Yeah I wanted a Pureone too. I'll be emailing them and making a demand soon. You might want to tell the guys on Focaljet too.
