This P1 filter was off of my brothers Cadillac 500 engine that's in a 68' DeVille convertible. Unknown mileage as he had VR1 10w30 and this installed by himself about 4 months ago. It's not his daily driver also made on June 26, 2012 on 2nd shift

I still can't understand how Driveworks and other Chinese filters can have perfectly straight pleats while this premium 'American'
brand has pleats that have more waves than the beach.....

Well this engine was ran high speed at times and with some nitrous shots so the filter to me held up ok

As long as they're not tearing, they shouldn't matter.

If they were wavy from day 1 than it wouldn't matter. I they became stretched and deformed than I cannot see how it can be good. Over time they can develop cracks and tears if they flex too much.

I cut open a virgin Purolator made Mopar that already had a decent amount of wave in it.

These things sure are packed full of media.

Wow, that filter has certainly been put to the test. Wavy pleats, but I don't see tears.

Still, considering this is a 'high-end' synthetic filter, it sure looks ugly. Let's hope the changes to the new 'Boss' filters, with the plastic mesh backing, will change this.

I know, ugly doesn't mean it's not working, but it seems to me a truly robust filter should be able to maintain form and stay 'true.'

...and if they're shipping this way from the factory, then I have to question their quality. It shouldn't be that hard to maintain straight pleats in a factory that pumps out hundreds, or thousands of these per run.

If anyone here wants to send me some filters to cut for them PM me

Also I have a FRAM PH8A and STP S8A for sale or donation. My brother had them for when he had his f-150

Sorry, my mistake.. I thought the media was at least a synthetic blend.

Nonetheless, the rest of my statement still stands.

Wavy pleats only matter if it's a FRAM. Then everyone can complain.
