I was stacking some newly purchased oil filters for my 22 Blazer and noticed that even though they were all Purolator One filters, most had 10,000 miles on the box. while another box said 15000 miles on the box . Did something change with the filters? Did I end up with some older stock of the Purolator One filters from (Rock Auto)?

Check the date codes, and see if the older ones are rated at 10k miles. Purolator's website currently says 15K miles.

Here's how you can check the date codes.

Yeah, I don't think the filter media has changed. I think Purolator decided that since they have good holding capacity, that they can handle 15k. I have one in my RAV4 now, but I'm only going 5k. I cut one open and they are very well made as with the BOSS filter. But the ONE has better filter efficiency. Amazon has the ONE's packs of 6 at good prices at times. I picked up 6 for $38

If you are already stockpiling "older ones" you might want to consider how long it will be until you can use up your supply. If you do 10,000 mile changes its going to take you a looooong time to use them.

IMO, you really don't want to use a 15-20 year old filter, no matter how well its kept. The media and seals will age and get brittle regardless what some will tell you. Personally I prefer all my filters to be used before they are 5 years old, and thats stored inside.

I change my oil every ~3000 miles (I know overkill however, I’m old school, and remember back in the 70,s when engines only lasted approx. 100k miles), I average about 5-6 oil changes/ yr. And I have 2 Chevy Blazers with the 3.6, V6 (same filter). They will get used up in a few years. It appears the date stamp show the 10k filter manufacturer date as 2/10/21, and the 15k filter manufacturer date as 2/31/22. All came from Rock Auto in July.
