i recently bought a 2008 accord v6 i wanted to know from the expert which oil filter is best

PL14610 vs PL14459 which one is best one to go with? they going for $10 after taxes with coupon code RMN15AFF at advance auto

PL14610 is 50 cents cheaper than PL14459 is PL14459 much better?

The 14610 filters interchange to Fram 7317 line, which is the updated common filter for Honda/Acura

The 14459 filters interchange to the Fram 3593a line

Both use the same filter media type which is 99% efficient at 20 microns based on the PL30001. Use whichever is cheaper unless you have a clearance issue that prohibits you from using the 14610, which you should not on an Accord

In regards to the Purolator line, The Boss filters are the best. The filter paper is higher quality than One and Premium / Deluxe whatever they call the middle level.

What are you expecting as a return of using a "best " filter? You want a filter that doesn't fail and besides the important filter is the air filter and its seal in the air filter box and no air or vacuum leaks

The PL14610 is actually the bigger of the 2 Pure Ones, but I think the Fram PH7317 from Walmart is a better deal for less than half the $ of either.
Yep ... I've used both on a past V6 Altima I had. Cut both open and measured the media.

PL14610 = 105 sq-in
PL14459 = 86 sq-in

Even though the 14459 physically looks larger because it's bigger in diameter (it has more can volume), measuring the media gives you the real story.

As noted correctly by fellow members, the spec filter for topic Honda is the 7317/14610/(5)7356 filter application. Having a fair amount of experience with diy Honda oil and filter change (including a V6) that's the filter application size I would go with.

And without seeing the exact location of 08 V6 filter, starting in 08 many Honda models have engine/pan restriction that prevent installation of the wider 9688/3593a/14459 application. So, if you're intent on using that application, better check first to make sure it will install.

That said, I go by the first statement here. Use the 14610/7317 application size. The small gain in filter oil volume really insignificant in any engine life consideration.

I'll disagree here. Yes, the boss may have stronger media due to the backing but the filtering media way less efficient than the standard or pureone filter. Horrible efficiency in my book, 99% at 46 microns on the filter for my vehicles and it isn't a paper filtering media. Since they updated the pureone media recently, tearing has not been prevalent.
