Purolator/Fram - The Same?

Just went to Kmart this past weekend & picked up the sale on Purolator oil and air filters. Bought 2 of each.

When I got home to install the new air filer (model A45090) and swapped it out with the old Fram air filter, I noticed they were the EXACT same design....same case, paper element, etc. Both had the same 'Made in Mexico' embossed in the same place.

Only difference I saw was one had orange casing, and one was black.


Is this true? Just a generic filter made by the same manufacturer?

It should be noted this was the basic Purolator air filter; not a PureOne model.

Quite possible. The orange color is just FRAM branding after all.

could also be someone swapped the filters..
the fram's cheaper so you the purolator filter went into the fram box and nobody at a retail box store's gonna take time to check..

I could be wrong tho.. but it can happen.

Fram and Purolator are not the same.
