Purolator boss vs Fram Titanium for 5th gen 4runner.

I bought few clearance oil filters for my 2016 4runner from advanced autoparts. I was suprised to see that Purolator BOSS than the Fram titanium. I compared the puralotor boss is smaller than the toyota oem oil filter too. Any one know why a 20k oil filter significantly smaller than other filters? I feel bad for buying 5 purolator boss filters.

Would they both actually fit in the filter housing? Even for cartridge filters, I have not seen them that much dimensionally different to actually be the intended same application. Something is off there IMHO.

Wrong part number crossover? I doubt that's correct. Two different sizes.

It is the right part number PBL25609. Puraloter boss is smaller than every other 4runner oil filter.

Was there different engine options that may have different size filters? WM does show that fits. What model on the Fram?

Fram is FS10158. Both filters are for 4.0 V6.

If they both fit properly then it should be fine? It is a bit strange though. Slight variation from brand to brand is normal but can't say I've seen this big of a difference.

That's odd to be different sizes. I guess if the sealing surfaces are the same as factory, it should be fine. Looks well made, as always

^^^ Yes, if the length and center tube area are the same, then it should still work as long as the OD allows it to fit in the cartridge cavity. This might be cartridge filter model number fit consolidation.

FWIW, the FF10158s I've bought look like PGs. Made in South Korea. I got probably fifteen at 25% off $4.
