Purolator Boss 14610

Well I cut a Purolator Boss 14612 today. First oil filter I have cut open.

I have pictures of it.. but I am not sure how to proceed with uploading the pictures.

Anyhow as it stands. I will say the media looks perfect. The ADBV was just fine with zero cut marks into it. Looks perfect in fact.
The louvers opening looked to be just fine and functional to my eye. I will see about getting these pictures on here.

That is a filter i would never trust.. Using those filters is like playing Russian roulette..

To the topic, many/most here use either tinypic.com. or have a photobucket account. I use the latter, both are free. Upload pics to either, copy and post here using image symbol, 4th from left on top of dialog box.

Yeah Zee0six this looks pretty stout. The media was abundant and straight as an arrow. The ADBV was without any issues. I'm pleased overall. 5500 miles on this one for the record. Ohh and it was COLD when this was installed. Temp in the teens and wind chill below 0. So this filter saw some good cold starts.

I'd like to see the media off of the center tube... this filter looks fine, but Puro Synthetics and D+ have not exhibited any problems other than wavey media AFAIK, so they take the only filter in the Puro line without issues, remove the wire backing, paint it metallic grey and charge more for it...

Someone is going to have to post up truckloads of these things without issues AND they are going to have to go on sale for less than an Ultra before I trust them on a car I care much about...

That filter looks great. It must have slipped past Puro's quality control deconstruction department.

^^^^ KCJeep - I think it has something to do with the filter design also. Each part number has a slightly different design. This is how we see one part number with a perfect ADBV and another part number with multiple cuts through the ADBV. As cost cutting measures are implemented, we can expect to see both good and bad from the same manufacturer.

I also agree with you, quality control is non-existent.
