Purolator and Wox Filter Question

Have a 4 stroke Suzuki 300 outboard. suzuki filter # 16510-93J00 instead of running the suzuki filter which is around $22, I was looking at either a Purolator or a wix.

Found someone who has successfully been using a napa gold/ Wix 1396 filter. When I cross reference the 1396 I get a puloator PL 14477

however, I tried another cross reference back, and get a wix 57145 .

Just confused on the different #'s

Also, any preference between Purolator or Wix

I'm guessing either will be fine. Wix sometimes has multiple part numbers that will fit 1 application. They have more than 1 available for my Ram, and I came across the same question as you when looking for my riding mower (there are more than one for it as well).

Between Wix/Napa Gold vs. Purolator Classic, I'd pick the Wix/NG. A PureOne would be more in line with Wix. I've used both with confidence. Buy what's cheapest/on-sale at the time you need it. With coupon codes, I was once buying PureOnes for $3 on AAP online. I recently picked up a few Napa Golds for < $3.00.

I was under the impression the 1396 was superceeded by the 7145.

Good choice. Know, also, that they're manufactured just up the road from you in Fayetteville, NC.

Though, to be fair, Wix (Affinia) has manufacturing facilities in North Carolina as well. I do not know if all of their oil filters are manufactured in the United States, as Purolator's are.

I always found the codes on here: $20 off $50 online -- pickup in-store. PureOnes used to be on sale for $5.00. The coupon would bring them down to $3. I would buy some detailing supplies, Rhino Ramps, etc, and throw a few filters in. Check the "sales" section for current AAP codes.

The 51745 is the new number and the 51396 was discontinued and sold out so you probably won't see those around any way, the most popular application for these products are 4 cyl 2.4 Camry engines so fitting another japan engine is normal
