Both are the same price for the verano which one would you use. Purflux has more filter media due to the zig-zag design ant the ultra is wire backed will be used for a 5000 mile oci due to possible fuel dilution with the DI engine.
Fram Ultra is just hard to beat. I doubt the Purflux beats the Ultra's good 80% 5 microns score, or it's 20,000 longevity. Purflux is good, just not quite the equal of the Ultra. Leave the Ultra on for 10,000 miles at least, change it every other oil change and you utilize its ability to hold dirt. But buy it for the filtering efficiency alone.
A planned 5k mile OFCI will not bring out any disparity in the overall performance differences relative to the engine longevity. And the FCI really has no bearing (or reaction) to an engine being DI; fuel dilution is not altered or affected by a traditional cellulose or syn media filter generally.
Buy the one you want because you're it won't make a difference to the engine, so you might as well satisfy your psyche.
