PureOne Filter changes (another gold filter)?

I had a few of the Pure One filters on order from Amazon, the prices were great but they were out of stock. I was in no hurry so I figured I'd wait. After reading this thread I was going to cancel the order but they already shipped them! I am hoping they're the old ones (but doubt it), if not I guess I will send them back.

might be ok with them, wont know until you try.

I will have to get used to them cause after my stash of blue pure 1's are gone, i will use the new ones.

Please give us an update when you receive them. I am curious as to whether or not I could expect to get blue ones if I ordered more from Amazon.com.
 
Glad I still have about 8 or 9 of my AC DELCO ultraguard gold Pf52 filters left. Not really a fan of them yellow cans, but I wouldn't be affaird to use one.

Received my Amazon order of PureOnes just a few weeks ago and they were still the blue type. (Exactly as pictured on their site.)

There is nothing to back up...they're not nor have they ever been Frams. As has been written here several times, Bosch bought Purolator...and the new black Bosch Premiums look the same as Purolator Pure One's, w/the exception of the paint color. As for the the amount of filtration media, who knows...I haven't seen a thread here yet where someone has cut open and compared a new Premium and a Pure One.

As for my original post, I was just stating that rather than go on an Amazon buying spree for blue-can Pure One's, it might be easier to go to a CSK and pick up the Bosch Premiums. Periodically they run 2-for-1's on the Bosch line, which is an excellent deal (regular price is ~$5.50).

The paint peels even on the non-total grip style paint Purolator cans.

I'm almost done using up my stock of Purolators and won't be going back to them. Peeling paint and really crummy threads/metals shavings everywhere. That's just what I want when I start my engine after an oil change - metal shavings being pumped through my motor...

I thoroughly clean all the threads and hook my shop vac to the outlet of the filters to get as many shavings and paint specs out as I can with these Purolators.
 
I have seen many filters, Amsoil,Mobil-1,Napa,fram and they all have some stuff in the seal and thread areas. Just wipe them or blow them out and stop crying. I personally dont buy a filter for its looks. I use pureone on a 99 acura TL and love them weather they are blue or gold. On anything else I trust in Amsoil filters.

I agree the coating could have been better thought out, but I anticipate that Purolator will fix it if it becomes an issue. Run whatever makes you happy. I just think switching because of a packaging change is pretty weak.

Got the new Pure One Filters from Amazon today. PL 20195, they're they new yellow ones. I ordered 5 of the twin packs, of the 10 filters I saw no metal shavings on the threads or paint on the gasket area or inside the filters.
 
was wondering about that. I have never seen any type of shavings or heard anything rattling around in my pure ones.
 
I saw the new filters the other day. The box shows a bigger number for filtering, something like 99.9%. Does that mean better media or just more marketing?
 
The new packaging references the single pass efficiency and the old packaging referenced the multi-pass efficiency. I think its just marketing wanting the bigger number on the box and not a change media.

You'd use an oil filter that visually has paint and metal flakes inside the can on the clean side of the filter? GENIUS.

There's been much talk here about the shoddy threads on Purolators. They are terrible compared to other brands. Major metal shavings.

Hi there,

I just ordered a couple packages of the PL14460 today from Amazon. It's the filter that fits my Subaru. Now I'm curious which color I'll get. I'll update when I get 'em.

FYI most filters have some cardboard material and at times paint flakes around the seal area that needs to be wiped out if it really worries you. And no I have never had any issues with the threads. Yes I am a GENIUS and you are a tool.

Most filters have cardboard material? Purolators don't. What the [censored] does cardboard have to do with craapy threads and paint peeling? NOTHING. The problem is shoddy quality control.

Now that's the mark of a product loyalist. Blowing and wiping out metal and paint flakes from an oil filter. Do you praise your Yugo?
 
I was wondering about the cardboard comment too. I mean all of them come in a cardboard box of some sort.
